BLOOMINGTON -- A Lexington man died after a motorcycle crash Sunday night on Interstate 74 just west of Bloomington-Normal, the McLean County coroner said Monday.
Andrew "Andy" Thoman, 39, died at 8:31 p.m., about an hour after emergency personnel were notified of the accident on eastbound I-74 near mile marker 125, said Coroner Beth Kimmerling in a statement. Upon arrival, rescue crews found Thoman without obvious signs of life.
In her report, Kimmerling said Thoman was traveling from Danvers to Lexington when he came into contact with the driver's side of a semitrailer truck before losing control.
He suffered injuries to the head, left chest and left abdomen.
Thoman was the father of two children, operated Andy's BCB in Bloomington and was an avid motorcyclist.
The coroner's office and the Illinois State Police are investigating, Kimmerling said. Forensic toxicology reports have been ordered.
