KENNEY - A Canadian National freight train "shredded" a semitrailer truck unloading grain Friday morning at the Farmers Grain Co. elevator in Kenney.
There were no injuries, said Fred Zacher, DeWitt County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency coordinator.
"The semi was parked just a little too close to the railroad tracks and the train came by and shredded it to pieces," Zacher said. "It tore the side off the truck like a tin can."
Zacher said the accident caused about 75 gallons of diesel fuel to pour onto the pavement. Bodine Services of Decatur was called to the scene to help with the cleanup.
The driver of the semi was uninjured. His name was not available.
The Kenney Fire Department and Dr. John Warner Hospital Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
