Chris Shawgo

LINCOLN - U.S. Army Reserve Pvt. Chris D. Shawgo has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

He is the son of Ron Shawgo, Lincoln, and Mandy Rieley, Streator. He attends Lincoln Community High School.

Zachary Allen

DELAVAN - Zachary C. Allen has graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) leader development and assessment course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash.

He is a student at Western Illinois University, Macomb, and is the son of Fred and Jeanine Allen, Delavan. Allen is a 2006 graduate of Delavan High School.

Ryan Ferguson

DWIGHT - U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Ryan M. Ferguson, son of Kathleen and Larry R. Ferguson, Dwight, has completed naval nuclear power training pipeline with Nuclear Power Training Unit, Ballston Spa, N.Y.

Ferguson qualified as a naval nuclear operator. He is a 2002 graduate of Dwight Township High School and joined the Navy in May 2007.

Adam Scott

BLOOMINGTON - U.S. Navy Fireman Apprentice Adam M. Scott, nephew of Rebecca King, Bloomington, has completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes.

He is a 2009 graduate of Kopperl High School, Kopperl, Texas.

National Guard

David Wiant

NORMAL - U.S. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class David M. Wiant has graduated with honors from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

He is the son of Eric Wiant, Springfield, and grandson of Dave Wiant, Normal. The airman is a 2007 graduate of Springfield Southeast High School.

Christopher Hernandez

FLANAGAN - U.S. Army National Guard Pfc. Christopher R. Hernandez has graduated from the direct fire infantryman One Station Unit training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

Hernandez is the son of Debra Pacho, Flanagan, and is a 2009 graduate of Flanagan-Cornell High School.
