BLOOMINGTON -- The U.S. Cellular Coliseum may have secured its biggest act since it opened in April 2006.

Country music superstar Kenny Chesney will perform at a Sept. 17 concert at the city-owned Coliseum, The Pantagraph has learned.

On Monday, the Coliseum is scheduled to make an announcement regarding the show. Coliseum Manager Bart Rogers would not confirm Friday the performer is Chesney.

"I will say it will probably be the largest show that we've ever had," Rogers said. "This performer usually draws 19,000 for a concert, so having them come to an 8,000-seat venue is pretty remarkable."

Chesney, a native of Luttrell, Tenn., is the current Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year. He is in the middle of his Sun City Carnival Tour, according to Chesney's Web site.

Chesney received the academy's Single of the Year for his song, "The Good Stuff." He also has had hits with "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems," "She Thinks My Tractor is Sexy," "Young," "When the Sun Goes Down," and "Keg in the Closet."

Information on ticket costs and sale dates were not available Friday.

So far, the February 2007 performance by singer John Mayer is the biggest-selling concert at the Coliseum. Attendance was 8,134.
