LINCOLN -- A Florida woman charged with obstructing justice in the Beason murder investigation has been released from jail after posting $5,000 bond, but is staying in Illinois.

Sara Duncan, 43, of Sarasota, was charged Oct. 8 with providing a false alibi for Christopher J. Harris, 30, of Armington. Harris and his brother, Jason L. Harris, 22, each face five counts of murder in the deaths of Rick and Ruth Gee and three of their children. They also are charged with the aggravated battery of Tabitha Gee, 3, who was injured in the attack.

Duncan is staying with relatives in Illinois, a family member told The Pantagraph. She is scheduled to return to court Oct. 27 with a private attorney.

On Tuesday, a judge denied a public defender for Duncan. A financial statement filed in court records listed Duncan with $139,000 in liabilities and $105,000 in assets.

Duncan's daughter, Jennifer Earnest of Armington, also is charged with lying to investigators about Christopher Harris. Earnest and the Harris brothers remain jailed in Logan County.
