PEORIA -- Police say they have apprehended one of two men who escaped from the Peoria County Jail.
The two Peoria residents, James Fuller, 44, and Aaron Cook, 28, were discovered missing early Tuesday morning. Peoria County Sheriff Mike McCoy said the men were last accounted for at 8 p.m. Monday, when they were locked in their cells for the night.
Cook was recaptured Tuesday afternoon in Peoria, and police were searching for a man fitting Fuller's description who broke into a home Tuesday afternoon.
McCoy says the two cut a hole in the ceiling of a cell, carved a hole in the concrete block roof, stood on a stack of books and got to the roof. From there, they used a rope fashioned from bedsheets tied together to rappel to the ground.
