Truth Tour stops in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON —The Alliance for Retired Americans 2010 Truth Tour stop in Bloomington Wednesday to educate retirees about how the new healthcare law will affect Medicare and discuss issues related to Social Security.

The visit will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the UAW Local 2488 hall, 10226 E. 1400 North Road (Illinois 9 west).

While some in Washington have suggested cutting Social Security benefits or raising the retirement age is a way to fix the deficit, the Alliance believes Social Security has enough money to cover benefits for nearly 30 years, and has not contributed to the nation’s budget problems.
