BLOOMINGTON - A Bloomington man faces aggravated battery charges in connection with a weekend stabbing in Bloomington.

Layroyce Lane, 42, of the 500 block of West Market Street, is charged with stabbing Erick Howard outside the Exklusyv Rydaz Motorcycle Club at 400 S. Madison St. in Bloomington.

Police responded to the call of a stabbing shortly after 3:15 a.m. Sunday.

According to a police statement in court records, a witness saw Howard involved in an altercation inside the club and took him outside. The witness told police Lane then came out of the club and attacked Howard. The witness reported discovering Howard was bleeding while helping him to his feet when Lane attacked Howard a second time.

A police statement said doctors reported Howard suffered at least eight stab wounds mostly to the chest and upper abdomen. Neither local hospital said Howard was a patient at their facility Monday evening.

Lane, who was arrested later Sunday outside his residence, was jailed in lieu of posting $50,000.
