ATLANTA — Two people escaped injury early Monday when someone threw a 10-pound rock from a highway overpass onto their car.
Illinois State Police are asking that anyone with information call 217-786-6677.
Police said the incident occurred in the northbound lanes of Interstate 55 near milepost 140 in Logan County. The rock, described as the size of a bowling ball, passed through the car's roof and narrowly missed the driver and a rear-seat passenger.
State police said late Monday night they are "actively working" to identify the offender or offenders, according to a statement.
