BLOOMINGTON — Attempted murder charges were dismissed Monday morning against a Normal man after he pleaded guilty to aggravated domestic battery.

Stover was sentenced to seven years in prison on the felony battery offense that occurred while he was under the influence of PCP, according to a statement given by Assistant State's Attorney Mary Koll to Judge Scott Drazewski.

The woman, who was treated at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, had abrasions around her neck and was unconscious at one point, said prosecutors.

Stover told officers after his arrest he thought he had killed the woman. Six officers were required to control Stover during the arrest because of his combative conduct, said a police report.

Stover will receive credit for 229 days in jail. He must serve 85 percent of the prison term.
