PONTIAC - A burglar used a steel weight to break the front window before grabbing $2,000 in jewelry from Don and Peggy's Jewelry Dolls and Gifts.

Pontiac police responded after an alarm sounded at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday indicating broken glass at the store, at 105 W. Madison St. Police found a 2½ lb. steel weight inside the store.

An exact description of the stolen jewelry was not available, said Pontiac Police Maj. Jim Woolford.
