Black History Project relaunch set
BLOOMINGTON — A celebration and relaunch of the Bloomington-Normal Black History Project will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the McLean County Museum of History in downtown Bloomington.
Soul food-themed refreshments will be provided by local cookbook author Willie Halbert-Horton, and youths will portray the lives of local African-Americans. At 1 p.m., there will be a dance performance by Breaking Chains & Advancing Increase.
A panel discussion, “Resistance & Progress — 1960 to the Present” will begin at 1:15 p.m. with retired State Farm executive Willie Brown (moderator), longtime residents Charles and Jean Morris; Frank Suggs, professor emeritus of music from Illinois State University; and area youths Myrissa Wiggins and Cameron Baker.
