Twin City agency earns awards
BLOOMINGTON — The Bloomington Normal Water Reclamation District recently earned two performance awards for its two wastewater treatment facilities that serve the Twin Cities.
The National Association of Clean Water Agencies presented the J Michael Callahan Southeast Wastewater Treatment Facility, located on Bloomington's west side, a Platinum Peak Performance Award for 10 years of 100 percent compliance with national standards for treating wastewater.
The district's Howard Southerland West Wastewater Treatment Facility in southeast Bloomington received a Gold Peak Performance Award for 100 percent compliance for the calendar year.
The awards were presented at the national organization's recent Utility Leadership Conference in St. Louis.
Monarch workshop set in El Paso
EL PASO — El Paso District Library will host a monarch workshop with monarch expert Kay Henrichs at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Drake Family-Heartland Bank Community Room at the library, 149 W. First St., El Paso.
The family program will be followed by a tour of the newly installed pollinator pocket garden at the library.
