CLINTON — A Decatur man has been given tickets for failure to stop and not wearing a seat belt in connection with a two-vehicle crash that killed a Clinton couple on Saturday.

Illinois State Police said Tuesday that Andrew Johnson was charged. Tony Hable and his wife, Karen, both 57, died in the crash.

Police said the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. Saturday when the couple's car was traveling north on U.S. 51 near Clinton.

Johnson, whose age was not available, was driving a semi loaded with grain west on Autumn Road. It crossed the northbound lane to head south on U.S. 51 toward Clinton. The car and the semi trailer collided, according to the crash report.

The victims were pronounced dead at the scene at 5:58 p.m. Johnson was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police, DeWitt County Sheriff’s Department and DeWitt County Coroner’s Office.

The Hables were active members of St. John's Church in Clinton, including the church's religious education program and choir, and with other charitable work in the community.
