That's in contrast to last fall, when the historic presidential election drew thousands of new voters to the polls.

"Obviously, there is much more of an interest and emphasis on getting people registered before a presidential election, so a slight increase or decrease is typical," said Woodford County Deputy Clerk Vicki Wilder. "We've had some people vote early and we're glad to see they are taking advantage of that, but it hasn't been very busy yet."

Still, 25,779 people are registered to vote in Woodford County, an increase of 201 from last fall.

After each election, offices review records to eliminate inactive voters. Livingston County, for instance, now has 23,746 active voters, a drop of 80 from the fall.

"It's been slow and we really haven't been very busy with election stuff yet," said Pat Oltman, Livingston County's election administrator. "A lot of the same work is required, but it doesn't seem as hectic."

In McLean County, excluding the City of Bloomington, 58,732 people are registered. That's an increase of about 2,000 from the fall, said Deputy Clerk Tisha McKinney.

"A lot of people registered in the fall and a slight variance one way or the other is expected," she said.

Registration numbers are expected to remain around 42,000 for Bloomington, which has its own election authority.

DeWitt County has seen a slow but steady increase in activity. With only a few contested races on Tuesday's ballot, the number of registered voters has increased from 11,467 in November to 11,613, said Deputy Clerk Gina Walls.

Many Logan County races were decided in the February primary, and County Clerk Sally Litterly said her office has been fairly quiet. Some 19,996 people are registered to vote in Logan County, a rise of 137 from the fall.

Ford County has 9,168 registered voters, 109 more than the fall.

LaSalle County reported an increase of 659 registered voters for a total of 74,348.
