ARROWSMITH — Two Livingston County men died in separate accidents over the weekend.

McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling said Lucas Stork, 24, of Chatsworth, died after an ATV accident in rural Arrowsmith late Saturday night.

Earlier in the day, Ivan "Zeke" Zimmerman, 73, of Dwight was killed after his van crashed at 1:55 p.m. on Interstate 55 just north of Odell, Livingston County Coroner Mike Burke said.

In the ATV crash, Kimmerling said MetCom received a 911 call at 11:30 p.m. Saturday to a field about five miles south of Arrowsmith near 32591 East and 750 North Road.

Emergency personnel found a 24-year-old man dead in a ravine.

A coroner’s official pronounced the man, later identified as Stork, dead at 1 a.m. Sunday, Kimmerling said.

An autopsy is scheduled for this afternoon.

The Arrowsmith Fire Department and LeRoy EMS also responded to the scene.

Preliminary evidence indicates that the ATV victim and three other individuals left an Arrowsmith residence on the ATV and had been gone about 20 minutes when the crash occurred, she said.

The three remaining individuals with the ATV were not seriously injured. The McLean County Sheriff’s Department is assisting the coroner’s office with the investigation.

Van accident details

In the van accident, Burke said Zimmerman was discovered in his van after firefighters extinguished flames from the crash.

He was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Danny Watson at 2:37 p.m. An autopsy has been ordered, Burke said.

The crash is being investigated by Illinois State Police, District 6, in Pontiac and the state police crash reconstructionist, Burke said in a statement.

Arrangements for Stork are pending at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Fairbury.

Zimmerman was the owner of Zeke’s Furniture Mart in Dwight. He operated the furniture store for 50 years. Arrangements for Zimmerman are pending at Hager Memorial Home in Dwight.

ATV doesn't just mean a 4-wheeler. there are other things. Like a 4 seater gator that can be clarified under an ATV. ever think of that? So before you go assuming, everyone needs to realize friends and family of this young man read these comments. And even though those questions come to mind, it doesn't matter anymore. It was ment to happen and when it is your time to go, it is your time to go. so take your arrogant comments somewhere else and just pray for his family and friends. accidents DO happen ya know.

I'm sorry to read this sad news. My heart is heavy for this young mans family and friends. However two questions do come to mind:
    1.) Was alcohol involved?
2.) Was he wearing a helmet?

ATVs are worse than motorcycles because riders believe they are safe.
