BLOOMINGTON — Arlene E. Bleavins, 76, Bloomington, died at 5:50 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 23, 2012) at McLean County Nursing Home, Normal.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington. Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. The Rev. Ralph Wingate Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

She was born Feb. 20, 1936, in Normal, daughter of Henry E. Swanson and Vida Estelle Denby. She married Edward Bleavins on July 9, 1955, in Normal. He survives.

Also surviving are children, Jaye (Mike) Whitter and Cindy (Jeffrey) Lovell, both of Bloomington; five grandchildren, David Whitter, Jessica Lovell, Jayce Whitter, Noel Lovell-Moore and Danielle Robinson; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, David Bleavins; and one sister.

Arlene attended Calvary Baptist Church of Normal.

Arlene was a wonderful wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to cook for her family, do crafts and make gifts to give to others. She was also an avid collector of graniteware. She retired from Illinois State University Building Services in 1997.
