GIBSON CITY - Thelma Young Rosendale, 74, Gibson City, died at 7:25 p.m. Friday (July 3, 2009) at the Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Gibson City, with the Rev. Kevin Boesen officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church, and for an hour before the service Tuesday. Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, or the Gibson Area Hospital Foundation.
Mrs. Rosendale was born Dec. 17, 1934, in Bloomington, a daughter of Pearl and Della Rafferty Wey. She married Richard Young on April 11, 1954. He died Sept. 6, 1983. Thelma later married Virgil Rosendale on Aug. 29, 1987. He survives in Gibson City.
Also surviving are three sons, Mike (Ann) Young, and Rick (Becky) Young, all of Saybrook; and Tim (Carrie) Young, Mount Vernon; two stepsons, Burdette (Lisa) Rosendale, Augusta, and Brice (Kathy) Rosendale, Yucaipa, Calif.; 14 grandchildren, Mat Young, Ty Young, Andy Young, Jamie Young, Emily Young, Jackie Young, Jessica Young, Nick Young, Ashley Schlickman, Charles Schlickman, Lynnea Rosendale, Amanda Rosendale, Kevin Rosendale, and Kyle Rosendale; and two brothers, Don (Irene) Wey and John (Susie) Wey, all of Heyworth.
She was preceded in death by her parents
Thelma was a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gibson City.
She also was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She enjoyed attending the many activities of her grandchildren. She was an avid GCMS Falcon fan and Illini fan.
