CLINTON - Evelyn L. Stevens, 88, Clinton, died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 11, 2007) at Hawthorne Inn, Clinton.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with the Rev. David Hunte officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Church of Clinton.

She was born March 10, 1918, at Clinton, daughter of Edward and Edith Turley George. She married Warren John Stevens Jr. on March 2, 1939, at Clinton. Warren passed away July 28, 1985.

Surviving are one son, Dean (Sharon) Stevens, Wapella; two grandchildren, Damon Stevens, Clinton, and Darci (Mike) Friedlund, DeKalb; and two sisters, Priscilla Williams, Bloomington, and Leoan Stevens, Saybrook.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lester and James.

She was a member of Presbyterian Church of Clinton, DeWitt County Home Extension and Ladies Circle of the church. She loved to sew, knit and crochet. She was a cashier at the Dixie Truck Stop, McLean, for more than 30 years.
