HOPEDALE - Ruth M. "Ruthie" Schilpp, 72, rural Hopedale, passed away at 6:08 a.m. Monday (April 21, 2008) at Hopedale Nursing Home.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hopedale Open Bible Church, with Pastor Jason Seibert officiating. Entombment will be in Schilpp Mausoleum in rural Hopedale. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church or to the Hopedale Medical Foundation.

Davis Mortuary in Hopedale is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Aug. 27, 1935, in rural Delavan, daughter of Aaron and Mary Wittrig Martin. She married Harold D. Schilpp Jr. on Oct. 31, 1953, in Terre Haute, Ind., and he survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Denise (Bob) Wraight, Morton; one son, Dee (Barb) Schilpp, Hopedale; two grandchildren, Aaron (Jenny) Schilpp, Appleton, Wis., and Adam Schilpp, Hopedale; two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Isaac Schilpp, Appleton, Wis.; one sister, Edith Weaver, Washington; and three brothers, Warren (Dorene) Martin, Hopedale, Lloyd (Lucille) Martin, Delavan, and Larry (Joyce) Martin, Citra, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and two brothers.

Ruthie was a very active member of Hopedale Open Bible Church and of the Hopedale Betterment Association. She had also been a member of several other civic organizations in Hopedale.

She had a professional cake business for more than 40 years, making cakes for all occasions.
