EMINGTON - Leslie G. Nelson, 91, of rural Emington, died at 5:55 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 10, 2006) in OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

His private family graveside service will be held in Union Cemetery in rural Emington. Visitation for Mr. Nelson will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today in St. John's Lutheran Church Hall at Cullom.-;The family suggests that memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Les was born July 2, 1915, in Broughton Township, Livingston County, a son of the late George and Augusta Ulrich Nelson.-;He was educated in rural Emington schools and had attended Dwight High School.-;On Feb. 2, 1937, he married Dorthea Mae Vitoux in Valparaiso, Ind.-;She preceded him in death May 25, 2006.

Surviving are his son, Larry (Sherryl) Nelson, rural Emington; his daughter, Nancy Hardin, Bloomington; and five grandchildren, Brian, Justin, Christopher and Jennifer Nelson and Misti Jo Hardin.

His parents and his brother, Allen Nelson, have also preceded him in death.

He had farmed his entire life in the Emington area and was still semi active in farming.-;He had also worked for 20 years at Interlake Steel Co. in Pontiac.

He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Dwight and was a member of the Livingston County Farm Bureau.-;For a number of years he served as an auditor of Broughton Township.-;

Grandpa dearly loved his grandchildren, his friends in Emington and his dog, Buttons.

Martin-Burke Funeral Home of Cullom is handling the arrangements.
