BLOOMINGTON - Linda J. Hawkins, 58, Bloomington, died at 12:57 p.m. Friday (April 18, 2008) at Mercy Hospital, Chicago.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, with Pastor Jim Smiley officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made to Humane Society of Central Illinois.

She was born July 30, 1949, in Bloomington, the daughter of Russell and Frieda Malinowski LaRue.

Surviving are her mother, Frieda LaRue, Bloomington; sister, Martha Jepsen, and her twin sister, Lenora J. Shepard, all of Bloomington; two nieces and nephews; one great-nephew and eight great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her father and one great-niece.

Linda retired from the Bloomington Public Library after 38 years of service. She was a graduate of Bloomington High School and received her bachelor's degree from Illinois State University. She was on the board of directors at Bloomington Municipal Credit Union for 19 years, serving as vice chairman.

Linda loved her cats and being with her family. She will be deeply missed and loved by all her family and friends.
