BLOOMINGTON - Thad Richard Landis, 54, of 1505 Fell Ave., Bloomington, died at 7:22 p.m. Wednesday, (Sept. 24, 2008) at his residence.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with a celebration of life service at 4 p.m. Sunday at the memorial home. The Rev. Stephanie Soon, OSF Hospice chaplain, will officiate. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Green Pond Cemetery, Pearl. The Rev. Jerry Edison will officiate. Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice Program, Bloomington.
He was born Aug. 7, 1954, in Bloomington, son of Glenn and Bona Newnom Landis. He married Rebecca "Becky" Spencer on June 12, 2008, in Bloomington. She survives.
Also surviving are his best friends, Jack Langhoff, St. Anthony, Minn., and Kevin Menken, Macomb; and many other wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
Thad had worked for H&R Block, Bloomington. He was the co-owner of Metropolis Comics Store in downtown Normal. He was the former manager at Adventure Land, Bloomington.
He graduated from Illinois State University, Normal, with a degree in political science. While in college he was a member of the Model United Nations. He represented China. He was active in political science while in college. He was a page at the 1972 Republican National Convention and was active on the presidential campaigns of Richard Nixon and Robert Kennedy.
Thad enjoyed cruises, science fiction, media, anime and gaming conventions. He had worked for some time at Peoples Bank, Bloomington.
The family has requested friends wear their favorite Hawaiian attire for the visitation and service.
