PEORIA - Donna A. Burns-Witt, 54, Peoria, passed away at 5:52 p.m. Monday (June 29, 2009) at her home with her family by her side.

Donna was a member of St. Philomena's Catholic Church, where a funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today. Father David Richardson will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, West Peoria.

She was born Aug. 19, 1954, in Peoria, daughter of Richard and Virginia Stull Burns Sr. She married Jeffrey J. Witt on Jan. 26, 2007, in Peoria. He survives.

Also surviving are four children, Jennifer (Chris) Haggerty, Bloomington; Josh Stella, Washington; Jody (Andrew) Williams, Peoria Heights; and Jenny Witt, Peoria; two sisters, Linda (Daniel) Scott, East Peoria, and Wanda (Ray) Grant, Peoria; one brother, Gregg Burns, Peoria; her mother, Virginia Burns, Peoria; three grandchildren, Hailey "Love Bug," Noah "Peanut," and Sidney "Cookie"; mother and father-in-law, Daniel A. (Phyllis M.) Witt, West Peoria; brother-in-law, Danny C. (Pat) Witt, Peoria; seven nieces and nephews, and six great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Richard.

Donna was the head clerk at Interstate Brands (Butternut Bakery) in Sunnyland for 23 years. She was known as "the bread lady." She enjoyed participating in many bowling leagues over the years.

The most important thing to Donna was her family. She loved being a grandmother and spending time with her family. She was a caring and loving person who will be missed by all who knew her.
