NORMAL - Judith Ann Schlenz, 63, of 1302 Beacon Hill Court, Normal, died Monday (April 28, 2008) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1628 W. Hovey Ave., Normal, with Bishop Brian Hafen officiating. Her graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Kankakee. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Mission Fund at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Normal.
She was born Feb. 20, 1945, at Kankakee, daughter of Roy and Elmae Searle Speight. She married Thomas Robert Schlenz on June 26, 1965, at Kankakee.
Surviving are her children, Aaron (Susie) Schlenz and Jason (Angie) Schlenz, both of Frederick, Md.; Elizabeth (Mark) Edmunds, Hopkinsville, Ky.; Laura Schlenz, Bloomington; and Jessica (Steven) Stong, Normal; and 16 grandchildren.
Her parents and one brother, John Speight, preceded her in death.
Judy was spending her retirement working with special needs children as a substitute aide in the McLean County Unit 5 School District.
She enjoyed her spare time dancing, singing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Judy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was known for her warmth, kindness and generosity of spirit to everyone.
