NORMAL - Mary E. Bettisch, 91, Normal, died at 2:39 p.m. Wednesday (July 1, 2009) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Normal.

Her graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington, with Pastor Luanne Bettisch officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Glenkirk, 3504 Commercial Ave., Northbrook, IL 60062-1821.

Mary was born Feb. 7, 1918, in Shirley, the daughter of John and Bertha Gronsky Thomas. She married George Bettisch on Aug. 9, 1941, in Bloomington. He died Sept. 23, 1986.

Survivors include one son, Al (Luanne) Bettisch, Lakemoor; one granddaughter, Kristin Bettisch, Northbrook; and two brothers, John (Betty) Thomas, Shirley, and Robert (Lucille) Thomas, Normal.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Josephine Engel, Frieda Orrick and Birdie French; and one brother, Frank Thomas.

Mary was a friend, comforter and encourager to many.
