CHENOA - Evelyn I. Jackson, 79, Chenoa, passed away at 10:10 a.m. Thursday (July 2, 2009) at her residence in Chenoa.
Her funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa, with Father Carl LoPresti officiating. Burial will follow in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the memorial home.
Evelyn was born June 24, 1930, in Bloomington, the daughter of Elmer and Lena (Schultz) Wahls. She married Lester Jackson Jr. on June 14, 1953, in Chenoa. He passed away Aug. 11, 1984.
Survivors include three children, Kathy Turpin, Gridley; Jay (Jackie) Jackson, Lexington; and Nancy (Jason) Finfrock, Mahomet; six grandchildren, Jacob and Mathew Turpin; Joshua Jackson; Zachary and Sawyer Daebelliehn; and Ayla Finfrock; and one brother; Marvin (Libby) Wahls, Chenoa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Harold Wahls.
The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Evelyn was a 1948 graduate of Chenoa High School and a 1952 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
She taught elementary school in the Chenoa School District. She was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed playing bridge with the "Thursday Afternoon Gang," and spending time with her children and grandchildren, who will miss her deeply.
