NORMAL — William H. Sanders, 77, Normal, died at 6:42 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 6, 2011) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
A light lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 16 followed by a celebration of life service at Laughs Comedy Club, 108 E. Market St., Bloomington. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Aug. 23, 1933, at Springfield, son of John and Helen Moore Sanders. He married Terri Ryburn on Oct. 4, 1998, Bloomington. She survives.
Also surviving are daughter, Vicki (Brian) Jones, Polo; stepdaughters, Stacie (Steve) Spiecker, Bloomington, and Amy (Jim) Heisler, Hickory, N.C.; grandchildren, Joshua Jones, Jessika Miramontes, Olivia Spiecker, Erika Spiecker, Jimmy Heisler and Nicholas Heisler; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. Bill was a driver for Brandt Truck Lines of Bloomington and Martin Brower of Gridley.
He was a graduate of University High School and attended Illinois State Normal University.
Bill was a member of the McLean County Seniors Golf Association. He was an avid golfer in which one of his greatest accomplishments was getting three holes-in-one. Bill was currently working with his wife in restoring an historic service station on Route 66.
