CHENOA - Clarence Evart Taylor, 94, of Chenoa died at 8:29 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 8, 2007) at OSF St. James John Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.
His visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chenoa. The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Pastor Jerry Koch officiating. Burial will take place in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa.
Evart was born March 22, 1913, in Anchor, the son of Rollie and Della Cowley Taylor.
He married Elverta Gerbracht on June 6, 1936, in Chenoa. She survives in Chenoa.
Also surviving are three daughters, Shirley (Loren) Schuler of Colfax, Barbara (Ronald) Mehrkens of Henry and Connie (Gary) Leake of Lexington; one son, Darvin (Mary) Taylor of Bloomington; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Evart lived in the Chenoa area for over 60 years. He attended Anchor School and then farmed in the Chenoa and Colfax area. He also worked for Interlake Steele in Pontiac.
He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chenoa. He was a former member of McLean County Farm Bureau, Pontiac Chief City Saddle Club and Cosmo Club. Evart was a devoted husband and father and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Fairview Methodist Church.
