BLOOMINGTON - Dana Lynn Berndt, 46, of Bloomington, went to be with Jesus on Thursday evening (July 2, 2009) at her home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bloomington, where a memorial service will begin at noon. Pastor Thomas Wirsing will officiate. Family will receive friends following the service at the church, where a luncheon is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Brianna and Jeremiah Trust Fund may be made in care of the Mid-Illini Credit Union, 1811 Eastland Drive, Bloomington, IL 61704, or to Trinity Lutheran School, 1102 W. Hamilton, Bloomington, IL 61704 in Dana's memory. Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.
Dana was born May 24, 1963, in Chicago, a daughter of Gary and Judy Reno Lewis.
Dana married Timothy D. Berndt on May 21, 1988, in New Brighton, Minn.
In addition to her husband Timothy, Dana is survived by two children, Brianna Rose and Jeremiah Timothy Berndt, all of Bloomington; her parents, Gary and Judy Lewis; two sisters, Sheri (Carl) Agers and Kristie (Joe) Rossow; and many other relatives and friends.
She spent most of her adult life as a day care provider and household engineer. Dana enjoyed scrapbooking and numerous other crafts. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington and will always be remembered for her love and compassion for others; her generous spirit; and willingness to share her faith with anyone she met.
