Buzz D. Gentes, 70, of Bloomington, passed away at 10:56 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 5, 2017) at home.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with funeral immediately following. Sam Gentes will officiate. Burial will be at Scogin Hill Cemetery, Bloomington, with military rites accorded at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Buzz Gentes was born Aug. 29, 1947, in Sibley, the son of Francis W. Gentes and L. Nadine Chancellor.
Survivors include his daughter, Amy (Matt) Ardell, Wilmington, N.C.; two grandchildren, Jasmine and Benjamin Ardell, Wilmington, N.C.; and three brothers, Steven (Dianne) Gentes, Suwanee, Ga.; Kenneth (Tamara) Gentes, Bloomington; and Tom (Rosie) Gentes, Lexington.
Buzz was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Dawn Gentes.
Buzz served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he obtained the rank of sergeant. He worked at Mitsubishi Motors for over 20 years. Buzz enjoyed traveling the country with his constant partner Debbie, playing poker, being outdoors, motorcycle racing and was a devoted grandfather.
