DeLaine G. Winterland, 74, of Cropsey passed away 3:28 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 1, 2017) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
His graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury, with Pastor Corrine Blissard officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials directed to the American Cancer Society. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, is in charge of arrangements.
DeLaine was born May 4, 1943, in Fairbury, the son of Arnold and Grace (Sheppleman) Winterland. He married Christiane Lacombe on Aug. 13, 1964, in Poitiers, France.
Survivors include his wife, Christiane “Christie” Winterland, Cropsey; one son, Gary Winterland, Cropsey; one daughter, Elaine Winterland, Washington, D.C.; and one grandson, DeLaine Maurice Winterland, Washington, D.C.
DeLaine served our country in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard. He was a 1961 graduate of Fairbury-Cropsey High School and was employed at GTE in Bloomington for over 30 years. DeLaine also volunteered for many years at the Cropsey Fire Department.
