BLOOMINGTON — Eugene M. Saulcy, 79, Bloomington, died at 9:58 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2013) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
His memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 16 at St. Mary’s Church, Bloomington. Interment will be at a later date. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 16 at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 527 W. Jackson St., Bloomington, IL 61701.
Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.
Gene was born May 12, 1933, in Jackson, Mich., son of Eugene C. and Marion O. Miller Saulcy. He married Mary Ann Kutcipal on June 20, 1959, at Grand Rapids, Mich. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Chris (Rhonda) Saulcy and Matthew (Dawn) Saulcy, both of Bloomington; grandchildren, Nicholas and Kathryn Saulcy; and Calysta, Robert and Gabriel; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Kay Roodvoets.
Gene served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from State Farm Insurance Cos. after 25 years with the company.
He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed fishing. Gene most enjoyed being active in the lives of his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
