Evelyn L. Kaufman, 92, of El Paso, passed away 10:35 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 31, 2017) at Heritage Health, Normal.
Evelyn was born Jan. 12, 1925, in Greene Township, a daughter of Emil and Florence Boston Bohlander. She married Gilbert L. Kaufman on Dec. 15, 1944, in El Paso. He preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 2001.
Surviving are three children, Karen (Douglas) Kaufman-Dickson, rural El Paso; Karel Kaufman, El Paso; and Kevin (Hollie) Kaufman, Port Angeles, Wash.; four grandchildren, Clayton (Rachel) WalKaufson, Bloomington; Colin Kaufman-Dickson, St. Louis, Mo.; Karel (Tim) Cohan, Chicago; and Rowan (Shaun) Dinubilo, Omaha, Neb.; and one sister, Dolores Bohlander, El Paso.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Evelyn was a former member of El Paso United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Wesley Class and taught Sunday school for many years. Evelyn was both a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader when her children were young. Throughout her life she was an active farm wife and mother, taking particular pride in her children's 4-H accomplishments.
Her funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, El Paso, with Pastor Krista Price officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, El Paso. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the memorial home. Memorial contributions may be made to the El Paso District Library.
