Fred Dale Ringger, 84, of Hudson, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Monday (Feb. 5, 2018) at Meadows Mennonite Home, rural Chenoa.
He was born Jan. 30, 1934, in Gridley Township, a son of Bernhardt and Leah Welk Ringger. He married Mary E. Leman on Dec. 31, 1958, in Roanoke. She passed away on Dec. 25, 2015.
Survivors include three sons, Steve (Donna) Ringger, Gridley; Scott (Becky) Ringger, Westfield, Ind.; Brent Ringger, Gridley; daughter-in-law, Colleen Ringger, Gridley; nine grandchildren, Becky (Philip) Romersberger, Kate (Scott) Levy, Emily (Adam) Wherry, Sarah (Andy) Hermes, Jamin (Whitney) Ringger, Jenn (Seth) Campbell, LeaAnn (Galen) Huette, Keith (Erica) Ringger, Hailey (Kevin) Martin; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edwin (Pat) Ringger, Roanoke; Raymond Ringger, Chenoa; two sisters, Lillian Ringger, Gridley; Betty Herrmann, Princeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Stan Ringger; one brother, Alvin Ringger; and one sister, Viola Ringger.
Fred took over the family farm south of Gridley and produced grain and raised hogs until his retirement, leaving a legacy for future generations of farmers. He enjoyed boating and fishing and had a love for wildlife and the outdoors. His work ethic and love for the outdoors will live on through his family.
Fred was a member of Gridley Apostolic Christian Church where his funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, El Paso, and also from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday before the service at the church. Burial will be in Gridley Cemetery.
