PONTIAC — Edwin L. “Les” Amidon, 98, Pontiac, died at 12:51 a.m. Tuesday (April 16, 2013) at ASTA Care Center, Pontiac.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Cemetery, Odell, with the Rev. Gretchen Stinebaugh officiating. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, ASTA Care Center of Pontiac or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Les was born April 6, 1915, in Herscher, a son of Edwin and Charlotte (Vollmar) Amidon. He married R. Yvonne Kaiser. She died June 21, 1996.

He is survived by two children, Donald (Bonnie) Amidon, California City, Calif., and Janet Amidon, Peoria; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, David Amidon; one brother, Olin Amidon; and one sister, Esther Cottrell.

Mr. Amidon graduated from Dwight Township High School. He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed on Kodiak Island, Alaska.

He owned and operated Amidon Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Pontiac. Les enjoyed woodworking and small metal working.
