MINIER — Margaret Stroud, 82, of Minier passed away at 9:37 a.m. Friday (Oct. 28, 2011) at Heartland Manor Care, Normal.

She was born Feb. 14, 1929, in Petersburg, to Ernest and Hulda Fricke Kleinschmidt. She married Don Stroud on Oct. 17, 1953, in Peoria. He passed away May 13, 2005.

Surviving are three sons, Mike (Patty) Stroud of Frisco, Texas, Tom Stroud of Jacksonville, and Steve Stroud of Chillicothe; two daughters, Diane (Keenan Griffin) Stroud of Bloomington and Doris (Mike) Smith of Normal; five grandchildren, Greg (Amy) McConnell of Elgin, Matt McConnell of Bloomington, Jen Olson of Manhattan, N.Y., Justin Smith of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Collin Stroud of Jacksonville; one brother, Albert Kleinschmidt of Carmel, Ind.; and one sister, Janice Beckman of Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Deb McConnell of Bloomington; five sisters; and four brothers.

Margaret worked at Olympia School District as a bookkeeper for 17 years retiring in 1994.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Minier, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, and Armington American Legion Auxiliary.

She loved spending time with her family and friends and was an avid Cubs fan.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Minier. The Rev. Frank Zimmerman will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, and one hour before the service Friday, both at the church. Burial will be in Hittle Grove Cemetery, rural Armington, followed by a lunch at the church for family and friends. Davis Mortuary, Hopedale, is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her church or to her daughter’s Relay For Life team, Deb’s Mardi Gras Marchers, at 1304 Viola Drive, Normal, IL 61761, payable to American Cancer Society.
