Marvin D. Barker, 78, of Colfax, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Sunday (March 4, 2018) at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. Pastor Tom Krieger will officiate. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the memorial home.
The family suggests memorials be made to Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association, Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Marvin was born Feb. 10, 1940, in Bloomington, the son of Jesse and Lucille Sears Barker. He married Lois Lilienthal on Feb. 28, 1959, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Colfax. She survives.
Also surviving are his two daughters, Connie (Richard) Johnson, Bloomington, and Pamela (Scott) Hardman, Clinton; four granddaughters, Sarah Furr, Clinton; Courtney (Zander) Wyatt, Nashville, Tenn.; Brittany (fiance, Andrew Braun) Feger, Washington; and Katie (Mitch) LaHood, East Peoria; and one great-granddaughter, Emmie Furr, Clinton.
Marvin was preceded in death by parents; two brothers, Orville and Charles Barker; and one sister, Virginia Kaufman.
Marvin had a passion for farming, he had farmed in the Colfax, Cooksville and Saybrook area for many years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Colfax. Marvin enjoyed antique tractor drives. He was a member of the McLean County Farm Bureau.
