Norman P. Seckler, 63, of Roanoke, passed away at 5:53 p.m. Friday (Dec. 1, 2017) at UnityPoint Health-Methodist, Peoria.
He was born June 18, 1954, in Peoria, to Everett E. and Mildred Donohue Seckler. He married Sharon S. Springer on July 7, 1973, in Eureka. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Norman Paul (Rachel) Seckler Jr., Las Vegas, Nev., and Elizabeth (Chris) Leman, Washington; six grandchildren; three brothers, Arnold, Cazenovia; Steve, Minonk; and Dennis (Suzie), Metamora; and five sisters, Edna Marchand, Peoria; Candace (Jack) Miller, Foley, Ala.; Mary Shawback, Lostant; Theresa Seckler, East Peoria; and Jean (Dave) Stivers, Washburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John “Jack” Seckler and Bruce Seckler; and one sister, Lois Seckler.
Norman started working at DMI, which later became CNH, in March 1976. Most of his time there, he was working as a tool maker, building welding fixtures. He retired from CNH in September 2013.
He was a quiet, gentle man, faithful in all that he did. He enjoyed spending time with his family, building go-carts for family and friends and playing his dulcimer. He was a member of Christ Reformed Baptist Church in Metamora. Norman went to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 1, 2017.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethany Community Church, Washington. Pastor Kent Kloter will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home, Roanoke, and a half hour prior to service Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Roanoke Cemetery.
