Robert “Bob” McKinley Jr., 92, of Farmer City, passed away at 3:12 a.m. Monday (Feb. 12, 2018) at his home.
His graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City, with Pastor Steve Anderson and the Rev. C. Don Ferrill officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, Farmer City. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, is in charge of arrangements.
Bob was born Dec. 30, 1925, in Rutledge Township, DeWitt County, a son of Robert Sr. and Ruby Winsor McKinley. He married Marianne LaMont on Nov. 23, 1946, in Bloomington. She passed away on June 19, 2004. He later married Fern Heck on July 31, 2006, in Las Vegas, Nev.
He is survived by his wife, Fern McKinley, Farmer City, and nephew, Stephen Lynn McKinley, Tempe, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne McKinley; parents; and brother, Richard McKinley.
Bob was an owner and operator of the Diamond Horseshoe Tavern in Farmer City for 23 years. He also worked as a truck driver, worked at Webb’s clothing store in Farmer City for nine years and was a custodian at the Clinton Power Station. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Joe Williams American Legion Post 55, Farmer City, and a member of the Fred G. O’Malley VFW Post 6190, Farmer City.
