Sue Alexander, of Bloomington, passed away at 3 p.m. Jan. 19, 2018, at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
She was born May 21, 1940, in Champaign, the only child of Harold and Verna Eshelman Murphy. She married Julius Alexander Jr. on Aug. 12, 1962, in Decatur.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Julius; their two sons, Julius “JR” (Amy) Alexander III, Bloomington, and Brett Murphy (Susan) Alexander, South Bend, Ind.; two grandsons, Julius IV “Alex” Alexander, San Francisco, Calif., and James Todd Alexander, Bloomington; sisters-in-law, Loretta “Toots” Steil, Normal, and Henrietta “Rhett” Winebrinner, McLean; and many nieces and nephews. Sue also leaves behind many dear friends near and far.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. A celebration of life for family and close friends will be from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the McLean County Arts Center or McLean County Museum of History. Sue was passionate about both organizations.
