Thomas Dwight Wilson, 80, of Normal, died Tuesday (Oct. 31, 2017) at McLean County Nursing Home, Normal.
He was born Sept. 23, 1937, in Dwight, to Arthur and Ann Sellers Wilson, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Kay, and two sons, James (Marie) and John (Lynn).
Tom was a professor emeritus of politics and government at Illinois State University, retiring in 1992 after 32 years on the faculty. He earned his bachelor of science from Illinois State Normal University and his doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He established the ISU Wilson Fund for Internships in Political Science.
Early in his career, Tom was active in community service work. He was also a volunteer for both the State Universities and ISU Annuitants Associations on legislative issues.
His body has been donated to science and a memorial service will be at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, ISU Wilson Fund for Internships or to a charity of their choice.
