HUDSON — Vernon G. Hinshaw, 85, of Hudson, passed away at 9:18 a.m. Friday (Jan. 30, 2015) at El Paso Health Care Center.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hudson United Methodist Church with the Revs. Scott Carnes and Steven Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington.
Interment will be at Hudson Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hudson United Methodist Church.
Vernon was born March 14, 1929, in Hudson, a son of Guy E. and Marie Lohr Hinshaw. He married Darlene Sheppelman on Oct. 22, 1950, in Bloomington. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Kevin L. (Coreen) Hinshaw and Kerry L. Hinshaw, all of Hudson; and Kalin L. (Jennifer) Hinshaw, Byron; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter; and a stepbrother, Gary Hinshaw.
Vernon was born and raised in Hudson, living there his whole life. He was a home builder for more than 50 years, well known for his detailed work. He was a former owner of several businesses in Hudson and was a member of the McLean County Home Builders Association. Vernon was also a licensed pilot; he enjoyed flying.
