BLOOMINGTON — The mammography suite in Eastland Medical Plaza I on the OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center campus has been renovated to improve the experience for patients and the workflow for medical professionals.
An open house for the renovated mammography suite will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at 1505 Eastland Drive, Bloomington. During the open house, information also will be available on 3-D mammography and OSF women's imaging services.
"I feel our renovation enhances the latest imaging technology by giving our patients a calm and relaxing environment," said Jeni Nenne, a registered technologist and St. Joseph clinical supervisor of medical imaging.
The mammography suite has been renovated to improve patient flow and privacy, according to OSF.
The ultrasound room and stereotactic breast biopsy room have been expanded to better accommodate patients. The gowned waiting area has been reconfigured to allow direct entry into the mammography room, improving patient privacy.
In addition, a tech area was created to allow for better privacy for medical professionals to contact patients and medical providers; the waiting area is more open and inviting; and a separate entrance has been created for surgical patients.
A dollar estimate of the cost of the renovation project was not available Monday.
