Recently the Illinois Legislature passed and Gov. Patrick Quinn signed a bill that added several sections to the school code.
Those sections basically state that on or before Oct. 1 of each year, each school district in this state shall post on its Internet Web site, if any, an itemized salary compensation report for every employee in the district holding an administrative certificate and working in that capacity, including the district superintendent.
This shall include, without limitation, base salary, bonuses, pension contributions, retirement increases, cost of health insurance and life insurance, paid sick and vacation day payouts, annuities and any other form of compensation or income paid on behalf of the employee.
Now, tell me, in this awesome wisdom of the Legislature and governor demanding such transparency of our public servants paid from public dollars, where I can find on a Web site the exact salary, travel allowances, living expenses, housing and parking reimbursement in Springfield, license plates, paid health insurance - includeing pharmacy, dental, vision - and life insurance, committee assignment stipends, deferred compensation, flexible spending accounts and any other form of compensation of income that each and every one of our Senate and House legislators receive? Just asking!
