In an effort to foist a disastrous health care plan on the American public, far left politicians such as Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Harry Reid have demonized private health care insurers while glorifying government controlled and government run “options.”
Let’s take a look at the facts.
In the May 4 edition of Fortune magazine, the 2008 gross revenues and profits of the top 14 health care insurance and managed care industries in America were documented.
In 2008, those 14 corporations posted combined profits of $8.61 billion on revenues of $275.62 billion. That is a profit of 3.13 percent.
Pelosi, Reid, Durbin, Obama and friends want you to embrace government options — just like Medicare, they say.
CBS News — not exactly a bastion of conservatism — documented on its “60 Minutes” program aired Oct. 25, that Medicare fraudsters are beating U.S. taxpayers out of an estimated $60 billion per year. That is, $60 billion is paid out of Medicare funds annually for absolutely no goods or services whatsoever. That $60 billion represents 12 percent of the $500 billion paid out in Medicare claims annually.
Hmmm: 3.13 percent profit for private health care insurers vs. 12 percent waste in Medicare fraud alone.
Do you still want the federal government to control your health care? Just say “no” to the 1,900 pages of government obfuscation in the Pelosi health bill.
