Once again, I urge the McLean County Board to reject the Black Prairie Wind Farm project unless the following restriction is enforced. All of the capacity of the project is to be first used in McLean County.
Black Prairie has estimated that 270,000 homes could be serviced. That would probably cover all of the homes in the county. Any excess could then be sold.
There would be savings in not having long transmission lines, which have a large power loss. This might result in reduced electric bills. Also, there would be a green power factor with less use of coal-, gas- or oil-fired generation plants in our area.
Let's get smart as to how we use our valuable land resources.
