I am writing as one of many homeowners on the south side of Blue Heron Road affected by inadequate water management engineered in the subdivision. Residents have been plagued with swampy back yards, flooded basements and dead trees, shrubs and landscaping due to excessive water.
I have contacted the city, which sent me to the engineers, who sent me to the builders, who said they have to talk to the engineers, while the homeowners are left to suffer the consequences. In addition, insurance companies have been needlessly paying claims for property loss and homeowners have been saddled with additional expenses for home and yard maintenance.
I urge the city, the engineers and the builders/developers to provide some relief to the residents and get this problem addressed ASAP.
When you buy a house, you assume that the ground has been properly engineered so as to avoid this kind of problem. Homeowners should not have to deal with the consequences of the engineers' or builders' mistakes.
