Why is there talk of messing with Highland Park Golf Course? We take the Performing Arts Center and spend thousands on it, move a old "historic" home at great expense, build a losing Coliseum, etc.
It seems we can spend money on everything for the "cultural" community but now there is a recreational area for the common people to enjoy and the same folks seem quick and willing to close or change it!
It is the oldest course in the area, and it is used by the common people, senior league, ladies league, State Farm league, Heyworth golf team, etc., so why would anyone want to do anything to it?
Highland is the last on the list of courses to get repairs or updates and has the oldest equipment, yet it keeps on going. It is the most affordable in the area and it has trees two to three times older than those trying to change it.
Let the higher-ups play at Crestwick, Lakeside, Bloomington Country Club and The Den, but don't take away a place seniors, blue-collar workers, high school kids, etc. can enjoy playing.
I know I am not the only one who feels this way, and I urge others to speak up before it is too late.
I have been told that all the city courses are paid through Highland so of course it will show a loss. Keep a historic and well-used course in Highland.
