Bring prayer back into public school system

Regarding the article titled, "Muslim bank employees seek prayer place," in the Jan. 13, Pantagraph Life section, I was amazed to read that a public banking institution in Charlotte, N.C., is allowing a place for employees to go and pray for religious reasons during working hours.

The employees are requesting a separate room to use for the purposes of prayer. The Muslim religion requires prayer five times a day which would mean three times during the work day.

If our society can accommodate such practices in a public institution such as a bank, I submit that we should allow prayer and praying back into the public school system as well.

We are a nation under God here in America. The God I know and pray to allows his children to pray anytime, any place and for anything to him.

Freedom of religion - President Bush proclaimed Freedom of Religion Day, Jan. 16 - and belief in God is the very foundation of the United States of America. The Muslim religion is not the only religion that should be allowed to pray in a public institution. We all have the right to pray to almighty God in the USA.
